A Tribute To The Burmese Tea Shop Culture: ‘From Burma, With Tea’

A Tribute To The Burmese Tea Shop Culture

Team Burma Burma

Burmese Tea Shops are living, breathing spaces of culture, community, and culinary richness, where friendships brew and stories simmer over endless cups of steaming Burmese Milk Tea or Laphet Yay. This September, Burma Burma brings that same spirit to your table with ‘From Burma, With Tea’, a limited-edition menu available from September 1 to 30, 2025, at all Burma Burma restaurants pan-India.

In Burma, tea is more than a beverage; it is a ritual of connection. From the bustling streets of Yangon to the quiet corners of rural towns, steaming cups of Burmese Pulled Tea are always served with bites meant for sharing and dishes that keep conversations going. We’ve taken inspiration from those tea shops and reimagined them in true Burma Burma style: nostalgic yet playful, rooted in tradition yet layered with contemporary flair.

On the menu are teas that tell their own stories. The classic Burmese Milk Tea blends black tea with condensed and evaporated milk for a smooth, comforting sip. The indulgent Yangon Royal Tea, topped with a creamy crown, is a treat in itself. For a deeper, fuller taste, the Creamy Bagan Tea pays homage to Bagan’s lively market stalls. For something cool, the Iced Milk Tea with a cloud of milk foam or the Coconut Iced Tea, stirred with coconut custard, offer a refreshing sip.

To accompany the teas, a spread of savoury plates awaits. Crisp Chin State Potato Croquettes with five-spice mock meat, fiery Corner Cart Skewers in a sticky chilli glaze, and Cracklin’ Burmese Dumplings with shiitake and edamame make the perfect companions to tea. The Seared Tofu and Avocado Salad adds freshness, while the Tea Shop Noodle Bowl offers the comfort of a hearty slurp. And for dessert, the indulgent Tea Shop Toast — honey-glazed bread soaked in custard apple milk and topped with clotted cream — makes for a sweet finish.

This menu is more than food and drink. It’s an invitation to slow down, share stories, and experience the warmth of Burma’s Tea Shop culture — one sip, one bite, and one conversation at a time.

From Burma, With Tea is now pouring at all Burma Burma restaurants in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. Available only through September, this is your chance to savour Burma’s Tea Shop culture — without leaving your city.
